Buddy Rich video (a sampling of what's online)

I've posted some of the best videos of Buddy currently available on YouTube, below. They're in historical order, with the most recent ones at the top.

These are just a few of the Buddy Rich videos that I thought would outline some of his history, and within that realm, the ones where the audio is synched to the video. (Not all the others on YouTube are.) The videos on Drummerworld.com are quite good. (below)

"Birdland" - Buddy on the Terry Wogan Show (England) - October 29.1986

This very high-energy performance features Buddy a mere 6 months before he passed away. Still kicking, same as always!

"West Side Story Medley" - Buddy's solo, and the finale - 1985 Chicago Jazz Festival

Buddy at a huge outdoor jazz festival, thrilling the crowd.

"Well Git It" - Buddy on Johnny Carson - 10-02-85

One of many performances featuring Buddy sitting in with the "Tonight Show" band, with Johhny Carson as MC.

"Buddy on Johnny Carson - 09-04-80

Buddy, appearing at Disneyland (California) that night, stops in for an afternoon taping of the "Tonight Show", with Johnny Carson. After kidding around with Johnny Carson for a few minutes, Buddy sits in with the "Tonight Show" band, and gives a terrific high-energy performance.

The very brief (non-Buddy Rich) video at the beginning is from the person who posted this video.) This is the time period where I was lucky to see the band a lot live, and it was VERY intense. This led to Buddy's "Killer Force" band.

Buddy, soaking wet, plays an encore for the appreciative Berlin audience... Funky!

This breathtaking display was typical of Buddy's performances in the 1970's.

"Chavala" - Buddy's band in the late 1960's

Buddy shows the "wise guy" stage humor he was known for in this clip, and then plays an amazing solo using only a snare drum.

"Two O'Clock Jump" - with Harry James - 1960's

This is Buddy playing with Harry James, just before he left, to form his own big band in the mid 1960's. He's very strong here.
